Arctic Monkeys, Yes? Crawling back to you.

A change of environment today! Morning is spent with my ma. First time to grab a coffee in months. I don't drink coffee that much since I am a little sensitive and is inclined to palpitate once caffeine kicks in. I don't drink alcohol either for the same reasons. Limited to just maybe a tablespoon or so of Pierre Mignon or some red wine on some rad pasta recipe I just invented.

Arctic Monkeys is one of those bands that I go back to whenever I'm feeling empty handed. Well, besides from Incubus, RHCP and Fat Boy Slim. Well, I'm not exactly empty-handed this week, it's just, I just had the greatest discovery yesterday with this post and thought I'd give Arctic Monkeys a short visit. Damn, I think I won't be listening to any pop or electronic music this coming week.

I think, in my opinion, Arctic Monkeys has improved and developed new music while still retaining that swagger and smoothness they had from the beginning. Their songs got a tad slower and darker but I am not complaining. Still music. Damn, I've been a fan of them since I was like grade school while everyone else was listening to Neyo and Usher. Come hell or high water, I'd prefer Arctic Monkeys over Usher.

I'm really into this song. Simple but cool in many dimensions.

Okay, that's it. I'm leaving this here. Throwback Thursday (Friday in my time).

Today's Music: Some rock and diverging from Electronic Music, Portugal The Man

Lately, the music I have been listening to has been lackluster. So today, I decided to listen to a little bit of rock. I present to you Portugal The Man.

They are a bit of The Neighborhood, Foster the People and some Broken Bells but with a more acoustic and sinister vibe. Please, please, hear them out.

Modern Jesus

And... check out the lyrics. They're great. If it's not relate-able, it's still good to hear and know.

And their songs aren't just about love which is good, right? Good for non love-stricken people to listen too.

Oh, did I mention they have some cool and cruelly funny looking videos

Listen to their playlist below. I need to get a copy of their album. You too.

Madeon and RAC, Tycho and Shuijo

Happy and cheery vibes care of Madeon.

Also, RAC is on my playlist again today. Specifically this playlist. I usually prefer listening to his upped and energized covers but I also like these mixes. They're clean and feel just right.
Also, if you're leaning towards a darker mood today, I found great music for you! One is Tycho and other one is Shuljo. They're a little like The XX meets Explosions in the Sky but with a more energized and electrified flavor. And maybe they're a tidbit less popular but hey, that's why I'm sharing! I think both artists/bands need to get their tunes listened to more. They deserve more ears. Really.

Shuljo

Today's Music: DJ Grumble

Sunday's a great chill day. DJ Grumble's the perfect companion. Chill rap, chill sounds, chill vibes. Best thing about DJ Grumble is that he let's you listen and play his music for free. And yes! we can download most of his tracks.

It's a cold sunny day (aka perfect weather). Nothing too harsh, nothing too hasty. Everything's going pretty slow which I pray to continue on Monday (which is impossible). Mondays are just, as usual, terrible.

Reading an old Elle issue, drawing, cooking and eating some healthy ramen.

Today's Music: Krewella

Today's a Friday and it's a sweet day.

Have a bangin' Friday with Krewella.

Shingeki No Kyojin Fan Art

As I have been practicing a lot with watercolor, I decided to make fan art.

My favorites from the manga/anime Shingeki No Kyojin/Attack On Titan are Erwin, Eren, Armin, and Levi.

Been Practicing all day

Practice practice practice. I have here 2 Eren Jaegers from Attack on Titan

I made this one this morning.

And this one, this afternoon.

Champagne Pierre Mignon

Royce chocolates are the best.

I've just finished the macha one and decided to open this. This little devil was ... it was superb.

With banana, it was heavenly.

Think of it this way, I have cake, cookies, ice cream, pudding and everything in the fridge but the one thing I reach for is this and some bananas.

Next you pass a Royce shop and you don't know what to get your date, get this one.

It will win. It wins.

Watercolour and ice

I've been trying my best to practice coloring everyday.

Today's Music: Feeling Lost and Dreaming with Felix Cartal

Good vibes today brought to you by Haerts and Felix Cartal. It feels so good to start a day with good music and good vibes.

Can we dance?

Listening to Felix Cartal feels like a dream. Like that moment when you were running to catch the bus and the moment you get to the station, there is that one seat left just for you. Oh, simple joys.

I coincidentally met a very much missed friend yesterday while on the way to the station. Strange, just a few moments before I saw her I was thinking of her. Good times.

Things just keep getting better everyday.

I should start taking pictures for these great memories to last. Who knows, these accidents might never happen again!

Also, it's Valentines tomorrow! Excited, yes? Nervous, yes? No need to worry, whether you're single or with a lovely companion, it won't be a shitty day as long as you keep your chin up. Who knows, right? Tomorrow might be the day.

Happy hearts day!

Today's Music: Little Daylight

Hey! Today wasn't much. Did a little of Java but that's about it. It has been 2 years since I last looked into programming in Java. Whew. Anyway, good vibes from Little Daylight. They have provided me some good flowing energy all day. They have really good remixes.

Here's their single that I have been listening to the whole day yesterday, Overdose.

The remix of Atlas Genius that I really like.

The remix of Sweater Weather by that I now love.

Also, had some beginner Spanish lessons in the office. Who knew it could be fun. Before taking the course, the only Spanish I knew by heart was "Muy bien", "Vamos a comer", "No entiendo" and "La Biblioteca" by Troy and Abed from Community. The lyrics are ridiculously funny especially when translated. Too bad it doesn't air anymore. If you haven't seen it, go see it!

Here's a playlist of Little Daylight's songs and mixes.

A Spot of Bother

Mark Haddon's A Spot Of Bother is enticing. It is about a man who gradually drowns in his own insanity in a very demure and subtle way. He goes through a period of silent surrender unto his own demons. I think the book is very fitting for people who have no idea how to deal with their personal issues or for people with a lot of family issues at home. I guess, in their own ways, the characters in the book, from degrading family relationships, managed to get up and fight their life struggles. This is especially emphasized on George, the main man in the book, who demonstrates us how one can gracefully diminish into madness and loneliness without causing too much impact and drama to his family and friends.

I won't give a lot of clues what to expect from the book. Just this, something from the book that I will probably take away and actually do when I get depressed or troubled by something or anything (except for number four, I wont tell why). I think these are good and helpful habits (maybe occasionally for five).

It is a good read. I thought it would be similar to Mark Haddon's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime but this book is in a heavier and more serious mood, more suitable for older folks. Nonetheless, Haddon's articulate writing still reigns.

Watercolor and portraits

I've been trying to practice portraits a lot. Same with watercolour.

It's so difficult to have a 'light hand'. And also, sometimes I couldn't get the right shape with my strokes. I need to practice for more control.

Today's Playlist: Ben Khan

Listening to Ben Khan today. Yesterday, I mentioned listening to JUNGLE and Jai Paul. By the end of the day, after listening to both myriad of times, I felt estranged, lacking and missing since there weren't enough hard hitting slow beats soul to listen to anymore. So, out of confusion, I went around exploring other artists and found Ben Khan.

Listening to his songs, it brings out such a remarkable grand feeling deep inside. I mean, It powers up your swagger. Like, you'll feel a ton of cool listening to Ben Khan despite having the most uncool day of the year. Too bad he only has 3 tracks up on his soundcloud. I need more Ben Khan! Ben Khan, please make more music. I love your music.

I hope you could help me out and recommend similar music. I need music like this!

Souls and Sounds: Zedd, Kendrick Lamar, Imagine Dragons, Jungle and Jai Paul

Early morning caffeine brought to you by Kendrick Lamar.
And . . . Kendrick Lamar is going radioactive! I just heard the sample audio from Interscope Records and it is sick. Can't get over Kendrick Lamar's epic rap.

Alongside Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar, Zedd also brought out new music today.

Besides from above mentioned, today's playlist also include JUNGLE and Jai Paul. Both have really hard and low hitting beats with slow moving jazz and at the same time both possess distinct sounds with respect to composition and quality. I feel the soul in their music.

So lucky to have stumbled upon both artists.

I present to you JUNGLE's the Heat.

And here's a personal favorite, Platoon.

Also, here is Jai Paul's BTSTU Demo. Slow hard hitting music. Just amazing.

I like the Jai Paul's edit version better though. You might want to check that too.

And here is another piece why you should watch out for Jai Paul, Jasmine.

Herriott Grace

I've just discovered Herriott Grace's blog and I am in love with it already. It's thrilling in every positive way.

I feel sometimes that there is an old soul inside me despite being only 22. My mother's influence, possibly.

I'm reading all their posts, one by one. Currently browsing through For the Love of Pie posts and one post hit me bulls-eye. Pretty consistent with my own life principles.

This is a very enlightening day, having to find so many people feeling the same way.

Personal Blog 2014-02-05: Fears and Insecurities

Today's music:

I don't know if it's sane to think this. Persons like you and me are numbered. We could live up to thirty, to forty, to fifty, and so on but we have counted years. I only have a single tiny body to go around and live with. People tell me to travel, socialize, see what else is beyond. Get to know more people, they say. Get to discover more places, they say. Get to own more souvenirs, they say. It works for them but not for everyone.

I only have twenty-four hours in a day and I spend nine for work, six for sleep and the rest are portioned to different people, places and things. I wish we could ask God for more but that's how it is.

I want to spend time with people I know and already care about. I like going around places I know but haven't explored. I don't need to own a lot junk, I just need things that last and live through time. I need things that stay.

I don't know. I want substance, not numbers. I just want to get the most out of whatever and it keeps me from dreaming bigger dreams. Keeps me from thinking of better situations, what ifs, what not. It keeps me simple, grounded, solid, focused and probably happy. It keeps me from regretting things.

Regret is an ugly word you get from seeing, feeling, dreaming more.

"People are getting around places, meeting groups, sharing times, where are you?" I'm where I'm supposed to be. I don't want to waste time.

I don't go around searching because you're searching when you have nothing. You're out there looking because you're empty. I want things to happen naturally, as if by accident, when and where they're supposed to be.

I appreciate permanence. It will be there, changing face, value, voice, and color, but the reason why you liked and loved a person, place, or thing will always be there. I am no anti. I want to treat them well, the people, places, things I already know and aware of, and that brings out the joy.

Do you own something you've had for a long time? It's hard to let it go. It brings out the joy.

Random Thrills: Dried Seaweed, TwiceAsNice, FIBA and Angry Birds

Enjoying these at the moment. Today is quite random. Woke up in the middle of the night morning only to find out that it's only been 2 hours since I slept. Felt like 6 hours.

It's 3 am in the morning and I'm here in front of my computer, eating and sketching. It's a lonely place but I don't mind. I got TwiceAsNice as company!

I just watched the live streaming of FIBA picks by accident. Coincidentally saw a link on youtube and got to watch the whole thing. I never knew Angry Birds had so much influence over advertising. Thrilliest Finds: Vintage keepsakes

Good day everyone. I've been spring cleaning since it's new year. Found a few interesting things!

Thrilliest Finds: Vintage keepsakes

The past days, I have been taking off Christmas decorations that has been sitting and hanging around our house since November last year. While taking those away, I decided to clean and remove the old clutter in the storage area so we could put in new clutter there. I know, its ridiculous. Hi Ho.

Anyway, it's amazing how much junk the house accumulates every year. Before, when my older siblings were not yet married and were still staying at the house, we all had our own unique junk and our own messy rooms to ourselves. But ever since they went and got married, we had transformed their rooms into extra bedrooms and have put all their personal belongings in the storage area. Yesterday, I cleaned out their bedside tables and found some interesting tokens. I'm still deciding if I'm gonna throw them or not.

I found a vintage gold plated metal card case with a wooden vinyl pattern cover. It's so pretty! It's not the most spacious card case though. It houses only 15 standard business cards but that's fine, I don't give or get a lot of business cards anyway.

I also found these tiny gold bookmarks with Chinese Opera masks detailing. They're a ton of cool. If you see it up close, all the details of the mask are embossed and engraved on the gold leaf. Whenever I read in the train or in the car, I usually keep a mental note of the page I am reading. Whenever I stop reading, I usually forget the page I was reading. Once I reopen the same book, I end up reading a few pages back before realizing that I've read that part already and it's such a waste of time. It's handy to have them book marks. At least I won't have fold the pages! I try my best not to fold the pages of the books I own.
I found some old lady stockings in one of the drawers. It has gotten old in there! It's probably as old as Justin Bieber. I'll probably throw this away.

I was rummaging among bolts, dated coins, and screws in my brother's drawer and found 20 dollars and this. And . . . I found two! It's as big as an SD card and as thick and heavy as a Canadian dollar. It has "Always with you" carved at the back. I guess it's a token for guardian angels. Keeping one for me and the other for my dear twin sister. It's so precious.

I also found a small hotel sewing kit from the early 80's. This is probably my mom's.

Also found an old ruler that has yellowed over time. I could use this for my future art things. It has warped already though.

Found a 3D version of the save icon. My last recollection of using an actual disk was I think when I was seven?

I also found tons of camera film, negatives and some old presentation slides with tiny pictures in it. My brother likes to takes pictures and it has been his hobby for over 20 years now.

Can't believe how much cameras and photos have evolved. Cameras are already in all types of gadgets. Gone are the days when you had to develop photos at Kodak.

Also, speaking of Kodak, I've been eyeing the Fujifilm Instax camera mini. I have this urge to have physical mementos of the photos I take but I hate going to the print shop to have them printed nicely. It's too much effort. Maybe I'll get an Instax camera soon. I wonder if it's a good buy since everyone seems to be all hipster about it. What do you think? My friends say it's a little impractical since smart phones can take pictures a whole lot better and Kodak is dead.

I'm checking this one out as well. The classic one, in my opinion, looks a whole lot cool. It looks so 90's. Like the Olympus cameras my brother used to have. The other one looks like Lomo and seems so bulky for my small fingers to carry around.

I think that's about it. Other things I found were just paper, mostly old documents and receipts.

Also, I'm enjoying today's good mood with Magic Man remixes. I just discovered them this week and they are amazing! I have mentioned them a few days ago here. I really like the song Paris especially on the part when the singer sings chorus. I like the way he sings "Paris" with so much enthusiasm.
