My Cashmere Cat

Listening to the fuzzy Cashmere Cat today. I haven't had enough sleep lately and so I tuned in to Cashmere Cat songs. They helped!

Just ignore the random meows throughout his songs.

Lately, on my free time, when I'm not painting, working out, cleaning or reading, I've been playing Tiny Farm. I blame Silver Spoon. I don't play it that often though. Maybe once or twice in three days? When I have time only.

I've been looking for reader apps and I found Feedly. I hate the fact that it only reads recent posts. I don't like it because what I usually do is read from the least recent post of the blog or site I am following and read up to the present. Sometimes, I don't read everything so I just bookmark the last page I've read.

Anyway, the reason why I needed a blog reader is because the other day, I was up all night/morning for work and I stumbled upon this gallery. It's a community of amazing Japanese artists. It's mixed, some of them do digital art, some do fixtures and figures but I like those who do traditional art. I like all of them! I especially liked and bookmarked the following artists.
I like Zain's art a lot. I do follow him at deviantart. Here are some links to his works.

They're unique and psychedelic. I can't imagine how his color combinations work but they do.

I don't remember how I got to check them out. I was just clicking links like there's no tomorrow.

And this is not my cat. It's a stray cat I found while walking.

Don't forget to check out Cashmere Cat and the artists! They're great. Bye-ni!

Shingeki No Kyojin Fan Art

As I have been practicing a lot with watercolor, I decided to make fan art.

My favorites from the manga/anime Shingeki No Kyojin/Attack On Titan are Erwin, Eren, Armin, and Levi.

Been Practicing all day

Practice practice practice. I have here 2 Eren Jaegers from Attack on Titan

I made this one this morning.

And this one, this afternoon.

Watercolour and ice

I've been trying my best to practice coloring everyday.

Watercolor and portraits

I've been trying to practice portraits a lot. Same with watercolour.

It's so difficult to have a 'light hand'. And also, sometimes I couldn't get the right shape with my strokes. I need to practice for more control.

Herriott Grace

I've just discovered Herriott Grace's blog and I am in love with it already. It's thrilling in every positive way.

I feel sometimes that there is an old soul inside me despite being only 22. My mother's influence, possibly.

I'm reading all their posts, one by one. Currently browsing through For the Love of Pie posts and one post hit me bulls-eye. Pretty consistent with my own life principles.

This is a very enlightening day, having to find so many people feeling the same way.

Colored Pencils and Digital Drawings and Elsa

Another drawing post.

Practice!

Practice, practice, practice! Too dark, too yellow, too slanted, too stiff, too wide, too narrow . . . practice, practice, practice!

Watercolor and Sketches

Happy Chinese New Year everyone! Today has been a semi-fruitful day for me.

Look Thrills: Watercolor and Sketches

Today's a holiday so I managed to get an ample amount of time to think things through. The other day, my ma brought home some books. She said she got bored so she went to the bookstore and bought some art books for us to fondle.

I told her "Cool beans, these books are nice. Though, I don't think I would be using them anytime soon." I take it back, ma. I've had this doodle since long time ago of a girl with so much hair which I never colored. I never color anything anyway. I thought of putting life to it today since I was feeling a bit useless.

Borrowed some art materials from my dear twin sister (she's an architect). She gave me the handy dandy Prang which we have used since our compulsory art classes back in third grade and some random brushes I found at her work area.

Why don't they ever make a flesh color for the skin?! I kept plastering on oranges, yellows, reds and whites on the poor girl's face. I tried reading the book to get some clues but got lazy in midst of reading "Getting Started with fruits." Skin turned out a disaster. It was nowhere near any skin color. The color looked more familiar with yellow pears.

I have to admit, I don't have a ton of professional experience with any art tool. What I do have are my doodling skills I have possessed since I learned not to listen in class. I doodle lots of animals, by the way. Unicorns, rabbits and dragons are my favorites.

It has been a hobby of mine to keep a sketch book. Though I don't sketch all the time, I sketch on days when I feel like reading a book is too much for my brain to handle and surfing the internet is too much for my eyes to handle. I usually have an idea in mind on what I'm gonna draw but most of the time, I end up googling 'person' on Google images. When I'm serious, I copy the dimensions and the features of the photos I see. When I get confused with whatever I'm drawing, I put the paper on the screen and trace the faces. LOL. I suck at anatomy so I only draw faces.

Anyway, the book 'Watercolour in 10 Steps' got me painting. With the help of my trusty old unkempt scanner, and some careless brush strokes, here's the result.

If you have suggestions on how to go about making the perfect skin color or sketching and water coloring in general, please help me out. I need it! I really want to get better at this.
