Today's Playlist: MS MR

I was feeling a little productive today so I decided to be the lesser, ill-equipped, unskilled version of picasso. Unless there's music playing, I usually lose my focus when I work. MS MR got me going the whole afternoon! They have amazing songs.

Today's Playlist: MS MR

They are fantastic! Please listen to them. I really like their song Hurricane.

And also, listen to their songs' mixes. I had the one remixed by NICITA on repeat.

Have a great year of the horse, everyone.

Watercolor and Sketches

Happy Chinese New Year everyone! Today has been a semi-fruitful day for me.

Look Thrills: Watercolor and Sketches

Today's a holiday so I managed to get an ample amount of time to think things through. The other day, my ma brought home some books. She said she got bored so she went to the bookstore and bought some art books for us to fondle.

I told her "Cool beans, these books are nice. Though, I don't think I would be using them anytime soon." I take it back, ma. I've had this doodle since long time ago of a girl with so much hair which I never colored. I never color anything anyway. I thought of putting life to it today since I was feeling a bit useless.

Borrowed some art materials from my dear twin sister (she's an architect). She gave me the handy dandy Prang which we have used since our compulsory art classes back in third grade and some random brushes I found at her work area.

Why don't they ever make a flesh color for the skin?! I kept plastering on oranges, yellows, reds and whites on the poor girl's face. I tried reading the book to get some clues but got lazy in midst of reading "Getting Started with fruits." Skin turned out a disaster. It was nowhere near any skin color. The color looked more familiar with yellow pears.

I have to admit, I don't have a ton of professional experience with any art tool. What I do have are my doodling skills I have possessed since I learned not to listen in class. I doodle lots of animals, by the way. Unicorns, rabbits and dragons are my favorites.

It has been a hobby of mine to keep a sketch book. Though I don't sketch all the time, I sketch on days when I feel like reading a book is too much for my brain to handle and surfing the internet is too much for my eyes to handle. I usually have an idea in mind on what I'm gonna draw but most of the time, I end up googling 'person' on Google images. When I'm serious, I copy the dimensions and the features of the photos I see. When I get confused with whatever I'm drawing, I put the paper on the screen and trace the faces. LOL. I suck at anatomy so I only draw faces.

Anyway, the book 'Watercolour in 10 Steps' got me painting. With the help of my trusty old unkempt scanner, and some careless brush strokes, here's the result.

If you have suggestions on how to go about making the perfect skin color or sketching and water coloring in general, please help me out. I need it! I really want to get better at this.

Personal Blog 2014-01-30:

Sometimes, I tell myself, it's fine. Everything will turn out just the way they usually are. And then it blows up. And there it goes.

God, we're all ticking time bombs. I pray everyday for the people I love to stay healthy, happy and just the way I knew them. I pray for my sister, my twin sister, my brothers, my ma, my pa, my team mates, my friends. I fear so many things but I fear losing the people I love the most.

I should start getting things together. I should start keeping physical copies of things, places, people I love. I am so afraid.

Music Thrills: Sir Sly

It's just been two lazy hours since I woke up but I'm already tired as the beaten up PSEi.

Thrilling on Sir Sly on Youtube and Soundcloud

Hooked myself up with soundcloud to find a similarly tired song and found Sir Sly.

You, Sir, have just made a new follower and fan.

They sound nothing like tired but they do produce this melancholy dramatic music, resonating a little bit of Smashing Pumpkins or Placebo but with a more acoustic and eclectic vibe.

I remember listening to them last year, but that was an RAC remix. Not their original. I'm also a big fan of RAC, by the way. It sounded differently from their style but I was still hooked. Then, yesterday, just about when I thought my day was over, I rediscovered them.

Here's Let Go featuring Kele and MNDR by RAC, remixed by Sir Sly.

I really like this slow-paced, chill-out beat. It's the perfect song when you gotta take things slow. I really do hope Sir Sly remix some more songs. I thinks it's great.

So I was exploring the vast clouds of Soundcloud yesterday and re-found them. I immediately fell for their song, Miracle. Lyrics are perfectly suitable for the heart-broken and love-stricken and also for those who have been so low lately. It sends you to a pensive mood without being overly dramatic and emotional. It kind of just stirs a dark feeling inside then lets go. I'm not saying that I could relate to the song. That's just how it felt like while I was listening to it. I'm not sad, just tired and lazy.

Anyway, Miracle doesn't have a music video but their other song does. A more popular song of theirs is Gold. Watch it instead. You can watch the music video below. The singer's voice is amazing. I really like the part when he gets his voice up at the "Push and the Pull".

Is it me or did anyone else read their logo as SRSLY seriously rather than SIR SLY? I'm becoming dyslexic lately. Hi Ho.

Here's their full playlist from Soundcloud.

If you're feeling a little down lately or just looking for some new music or both, please listen to them.

Today's Playlist: Magic Man

I'm feeling grand today. Hoping to have this great feeling flowing the whole day by listening to Magic Man.

Today's Playlist: Magic Man

Hello, Everyone. Please have a supreme day today. Hope nothing goes your way. Or if something does, hope you get around it and feel better.

Today's playlist feature is Magic Man. Listening to them just makes things pathetic become fantastic.

A lot of people are getting sick lately, including my twin sister. Please drink more water and take more naps.

I'm having mixed emotions today. It's a perfect day for bananafish variety.

A lot of confusion today with people, places, and paraphrases. Nevertheless, it was a day full of learning. Here's a little something to enjoy for the remaining hours of the day.

Today's Playlist: Gramatik - The Age of Reason

Hello everyone, today is looking bleak. I'm feeling a little detached since realizing how much I am missing. I have found the most fitting accompaniment to the mood.

I present to you Gramatik, with added funk. The fifth track perfectly defines my mood.

On a lighter note, what's your playlist for today? I would love to hear other people's music.

Personal Blog 2014-01-27

Personal Blog 2014-01-27:

I spent today's morning with my mom. We were listening to early morning headlines while on our way to Bonifacio Global City Taguig. She describes how people have turned themselves into machines, accepting only tokens of cash, drugs, sex or instant gratification to live. Spot on. People have become so foolish. She then recalls the past, her childhood with her mother, my grandmother. "It's a lot better before. People cared so much despite having so little."

It got me thinking.

"People care so little despite having so much."

Some people dwell so much in the past hoping to regain the strength, the anticipation and the ambitions they had lost. Nowadays, it's so easy to give up on dreams that would involve a community or even a family. Maybe because the needs and wants of the biological man have become even less attainable. Or rather, the needs and wants of the biological man have grown bigger than his own capacity, making it less attainable. Everything has been made available to everyone twentyfour-seven and yet, as years pass, time have become a lot faster and a lot shorter. A man has less hours in a day, more stomachs to feed, more people to please, and smallers beds to sleep in. Why even bother thinking of another man's empty stomach when you yourself have an indefinite emptiness inside. How did this happen. Have people lost the feeling of contentedness?

I feel like staring at gutless souls everywhere. People around me have learned to keep their lives in a tiny little shard of glass with fantastic lights. People don't even talk about the people they live with anymore. People don't talk about the people they care for anymore. Do they still have those nowadays? All people talk about nowadays is their own entertainment. It bothers me that all folks worry nowadays is their own satisfaction. How did I become part of this crowd? How did I learn to be this selfish? How did I become so lifeless?

Parents of the previous generations always hope to provide everything in their power to make their children's lives less miserable. They have promised themselves that their sons and daughters will not have to starve, will be studying in better schools, will not have to work long hours. And thus, these promises have been fulfilled or are being righteously fulfilled - so is the invisible wall between people. These children grew into adults, bearing similar thoughts their forbears had, passing the same dreams to their own children. The cycle continues, draining thousands of countless dreams for society, for the country, shrouded with more selfish intentions, instant gratifications, pathetic and apathetic robots, you and I included, working, moving, living for their own biological needs, for their own biological fears, and for their own biological dreams. Own, it's a scary word on its own.

It's a devastating food for society, one with a bitter and sharp taste but simultaneously, ignored and swallowed whole. Our society, and millions of other societies across the globe, have grown malnourished.

We, with our mortal minds, have identified our mortal dreams. We, with our mortal hands, made these dreams into tangible realities, manufactured it, put it into a box, and distributed it to everyone. We have made life so much easier, happier, simpler for everyone to live together, to coexist and yet we don't exist in each other's lives.  It's as if people nowadays, no matter how much the technology of reachability have evolved, have grown even more distant from and ignorant of each other.

Are we this dumb?

It daunts me. What have we done, really? For the past years, have we really lived to our purpose? We have made everything in our power to make our lives easier and yet it gets harder.

Thrilliest Finds: Snap-backs, Caps, Beanies, and some Random Hats

For the past years, I have unconsciously accumulated some fancy headgear.

Thrilling on snap-backs, caps, beanies, and some random hats.

Whenever I'm shopping, I already have this mental list of specific items I want to buy. When I'm in the actual store, I just buy hats.

I've been trying to clean cleaning my room. I tried organizing and I realized how much hats I've already salvaged. Thought I could share it here.

GIYONGCHY G-DRAGON CAP

My current favorite. I've been wearing this cap almost everyday. I wear it when I'm commuting to work, taking a walk in a park, going to the gym or just grocery shopping.

It's made out of black faux leather pleather with the word GIYONGCHY embroidered on it. It's a word play on the name Jiyong and the brand Givenchy care of the style king Kwon Jiyong a.k.a. G-Dragon from Big Bang. It's ostensibly designed to look like the real deal, making it less of a dupe spoof phony, but I like it. I like G-Dragon and his style so when I saw this cap, crap, I just had to buy it no matter what. I got the one with the green strap at the back.

If you want one too, you can get one from ebay for 20 US dollars. It comes in black pleather with either a pink or a green strap at back.

WOODEN WOVEN SNAP-BACK

This cap is gold. I'm always on the lookout for unique and original caps and this cap definitely fits the category. I found it in a store that sells Filipino paintings, figurines, furniture, and other novelty items. It's a goldmine out there! Who would have thought a cap like this would be sitting there on top of a wooden carabao's head.

It's made out of abaca with sleek woven decal on the brim. The inside is lined with faux leather. The woven abaca lace on the brim resembles the banig, which is nice. Makes it really unique.

It also reminds me of the woven Bowller cap I saw in the past. I don't know where to find it anymore.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE'S FLUFFY HAT

I got this from my mom. It reminds me of Strawberry Shortcake. It resembles Strawberry Shortcake's hat.

It's not my style. This is what my mom thinks of my style. She got style. That's all.

OLD NAVY BLUE OLD NAVY CAP

This cap may not look like anything swag but it is comfty.  It's slim-fit and doesn't have a snap at the back. It's so old, it isn't sold anywhere anymore.

STRIPED GREY BEANIE

One day, I thought, I should get something that's not black. I got grey. Trust me, it's a totally different color.

At least it's striped, right? Aye.

VANS SLIM-FIT GREY CAP

My reason for getting this one is the combination of the two I have just mentioned above.

This cap is slim-fit, comfortable, and it's not black. I shouldn't have bought this. Impulse buying, I hate you. I'm a FOOL.

DENIM HURLEY SNAP-BACK

Denim on denim was so trendy last year. I wear this cap often.

BUDWEISER CAP

Ever since my brother got married, this cap has been living in my closet. I stole inherited this from him.

I don't drink beer but I like this hat because it reminds me of old Budweiser commercials with the frog and iguana in it.

SUPREME RED AZTEC CAP

The Supreme brand has been getting pretty popular lately. I got this for my twin sister because she told me she likes red caps. I wear it sometimes because it's not black and I like the aztec vibe.

Not related: I used to play a lot of Counter-Strike. I always chose de_aztec over de_dust or de_dust2. I rarely play nowadays.

BLACK HURLEY SNAP-BACK WITH HUGE-ASS HURLEY SCRIPT

I hate it but sometimes I can't avoid being part of the consumerist society.

LEE COOPER KHAKI CAP

When my brother was still in college, he and his four other friends would have similar hairstyles. On one occasion, all of them would be bald heads. On another occasion all of them would look like metal-heads. On normal days, they would all be wearing caps, looking like a group of hit-men.

Inherited from my brother. I like the adjustable leather strap at the back.

FLUFFY WOLF HAT

My twin sister thinks it fits me because I have the same brown color on my hair. I love her.

My twin sister bought me this because I like EXO. They have an album called XOXO which had the title-song WOLF. Check them out.

NIKE GOLF CAP

It's sad but I don't feel anything for this cap. I don't wear it that much. Inherited from either my older sister or my brother. It's hard to gravitate towards something so plain.

BOY LONDON BEANIE

If there's a cap I wear everyday, there's also a beanie I wear in most cold days.

It's made out of thick and warm knitted fabric.

BAD BOY DIY-ED HAT

I saw a youtube video where some dude was customizing all his caps.

I wanted to try DIY-ing out. I bought this one in all black and changed the brim into a pink one and covered the top button white. I think it came out okay. My friends disagree.

RAINBOW BEANIE

My twin sister likes it a lot. She says it looks like food. This hat suits her and her personality very much. So bright and happy. She's my best friend.

This hat is from KUSH, a local knitted hat brand in the Philippines. They have all sorts of knitted accessories dedicated for all types of people, including babies, grandmas and gangstas.

PLAIN BLACK BEANIE

For times I feel blue, I wear black.

I like it because it's plain. It's also from KUSH.

KENZO SNAP-BACK

Kenzo is such a cool brand I just had to get it.

It has two things I really like - it's Japanese and it's pink.

MAROON SUPREME BEANIE

It's New Year and I needed some luck. I had to have something red to wear.

It's a near red color. Plus, I was feeling supreme on the day I got this.

BLACK CAP WITH A RED STAR

One of my favorite films is The Motorcycle Diaries. Gael Garcia Bernal is in it but it's no Y Tu Mamá También. It's a film about Ernesto Guevara (Che) and his friend Alberto Granado. Let the world change you, and you can change the world.

My brother knew I liked the film. I do like it a lot. I've watched it like 8 times.

He visited home one time and got this.

I own twenty hats in total. Hopefully, I stop there.

ABOUT

ABOUT THIS BLOG:

This blog is dedicated for all sorts of thrills I've been looking about and checking out. Contents of this blog may carry a lot or no significance with your life but I would like to thank you for taking interest at my interests.

I am no one important in terms of arts, athletics, politics or commerce. My blog posts may be inaccurate for most people but is definitely akin to my own thoughts. These are thoughts concocted out of boredom and some from my own life realizations.

As for the domain name, whenever I think of things I found interesting at the moment, the word thrill comes to mind. I tried conjuring other similar words, I ended up empty handed.

Maybe adding iest would make the word even more thrilling than it is? Maybe not. I know, it's a little silly.

The title of the blog is All Kinds of Jazzy Shit or AKJS, if you will. It comes from a novel of one of my favorite authors, Kurt Vonnegut.

P.S. My manner of putting thoughts into paper can get boring/irritating

Music Thrills: Robotaki and Giraffage

Hello, I provided some links in case the widget/player doesn't work.

Thrilling on Robotaki's and Giraffage's Music on Soundcloud.

ROBOTAKI

Before I make any comments, please listen to his mixes!

https://soundcloud.com/robotaki/sets/official-remixes

I've been listening to him for more than half a year now, I come back every so often to his soundcloud page to check out his recent works.

It's easy on the ears and comes at a constant beat. The songs he chooses to mix doesn't sound forced at all. Mind you, the songs he mixes are good and I have been listening to some of them before but his remixes just makes the songs even more jammable.

Usually, I get tired at listening to the same songs over and over but whenever I listen to his mixes, no matter how many times I set it on repeat, it's like listening to a brand new song. Really smooth remix.

His remixes are those types of music you'd put into the only commercial you wouldn't skip and probably anticipate every time it airs on TV or youtube.

My personal favorite:

https://soundcloud.com/robotaki/dj-shadow-scale-it-back-1

GIRAFFAGE

His works are so chill, sometimes I just sit down, stare at the ceiling and listen to his music.

https://soundcloud.com/giraffage

I used to listen to him awhile back but then I got tired of his style. Some of his earlier works were too heavy for my ears. I guess maybe for me, it had too much happening in it. Maybe I just didn't like the choice of music he had before. Nowadays, In my opinion, he's starting to gain that momentum again. Well, for his recent works, I feel like the constant beat and the tiny sounds that strike here and there were making a huge difference.

If I were to describe his work as food, it would be some light fluffy cream cheese icing with sugar and cinnamon on top of a soft moist carrot cupcake. It can also be the freshly brewed cappuccino or iced coffee you had this morning. That was a little too much but that's how I feel like when listening to his songs. It's one of those songs that will have you sit on your couch the whole day, make you open a new book or casually browse through lifestyle magazines and shit.

My personal favorite:

https://soundcloud.com/giraffage/music-sounds-better-with-you

I look up to these two! I really hope they continue on making great music because some of the people I follow in soundcloud haven't posted anything for decades.

Smooth sailing beats and easy listening. Please give their music a try! Can't wait for their new releases.

Book Thrills: Kurt Vonnegut's Timequake

Hello! This blog is dedicated for all sorts of thrills I've been looking about and checking out. Thank you for taking interest at my interests.

Thrilling on Kurt Vonnegut's Timequake.

This book is not a regular novel. It is kind of a semi-autobiography of Kurt. It contains several good short stories that Kurt has taken with him and also a main plot involving a timequake. Timequake is a term coined by Kurt Vonnegut himself. I have described it as follows...

I think Kurt's books works for all readers, even for irregular book readers and non book readers. The humor and the short chapters makes it light and easy to read. Kurt separated his stories across several chapters so there will be pauses where you can just breathe and digest whatever you have just read.

Here I'm gonna show you one of my favorite phrases from the book which briefly (and accurately) describes how the modern living and entertainment has transformed into. I was so struck by these words that I had it as this blog's title. I do wish this blog not just to be entertaining but also be a stimulant for other people to be creative and imaginative in whatever things they are doing.

The writing style of this book is somewhat reminiscent of other Vonnegut books. It gives you several glimpses in different timelines in Kurt's real and imaginary life. It also references some of the quotes, characters and events from other books but Kurt won't leave you out. He'll brief you about what he's telling. It goes through different and ranging issues about ordinary life which lets you recollect on your past as well. It is a good read and I think this book is actually better than Kurt Vonnegut's famous Slaughterhouse-Five and Cat's Cradle. Nonetheless, I like those two books. Makes me just want to read more of his works! Some words from the book that made my day are shown below.

Can't help but put the last one. It's a personal favorite. I might have given away too much about the book! Sorry I'm not sorry.

Honest and entertaining sarcasm from Vonnegut. Please give it a try! Can't wait to read the rest of his collection.
